# Existing Product Tax Records Await the Commerce Transfer

## Context

Tax determination and financial treatment have separate owners under the realignment. Existing assignments require a controlled transfer between them.

## Decision

The approved realignment transfers tax classes, product-kind defaults and product assignments to Commerce, with Accounting retaining existing records until the cutover is implemented.

## Alternatives Considered

Keep product tax classification permanently in Accounting. The approved boundary assigns tax configuration and determination to Commerce.

## Consequences

Implementation preparation must settle assignment migration and the reported consumer discrepancy. The observed Accounting screen does not establish that the transfer has already happened.
