# Selecting and Allocating Promotion Benefits

## Context

Audience discounts and campaign benefits can compete or combine. The configured combination rules determine the candidates that assessment may compare.

## Decision

Promotion assessment compares permitted audience and Standard alternatives and selects the lowest allowed total.

## Alternatives Considered

Apply campaigns once in fixed entry order. That can miss a less expensive permitted alternative.

Always apply campaigns to the audience amount. Noncombining campaigns use Standard as their basis instead.

## Consequences

The first four competing noncombining or exclusive campaigns have bounded combination search; later candidates are tested individually. Equal totals retain audience pricing without taking a code use. The explanation identifies a better audience or automatic-campaign outcome.
