Let the rendering page choose Full or Standard width and use arrival-based
sidebar restoration for pages that fold it.

alternatives:
  - option: Width by address or area
why_not: Pages within one area require different working widths.
consequences:
  - PageLayout owns common outer spacing.
  - Sidebar restoration depends on whether the page found it open on arrival.
  - Reload does not restore the fold cookie today.

# Rendering Pages Select Their Width

## Context

Lists, designers and forms have different space requirements even within one product area.

## Decision

Keep Full as the default and Standard as a centered column capped at eleven hundred pixels. Let the rendering page choose. Wide record and designer pages can fold the sidebar and restore it on departure.

## Alternatives Considered

Area-wide or address-derived width would impose one layout on pages with different needs.

## Consequences

Shared margins belong to PageLayout. Sidebar restoration follows the entry-state snapshot. The written fold cookie does not restore the preference on reload.
