assertion_inventory:
  - maintainPartitions
  - 'creates the current month and the two after it on the first run, and drops nothing'
  - records the partitions it created on its metric
  - records a run that kept every table on the heartbeat the silence alarm reads
  - records no heartbeat for a run that failed a table
  - 'fails the run as a whole when one table’s pass failed, naming that table'
  - >-
still keeps the other table: the months ahead created, the two expired months archived and
    dropped
  - counts the failed table on the failure metric the alarm reads
  - records the partitions it dropped on its metric
  - names the failed table in its error line

# Maintain partitions

## Verification Boundary

The suite checks the production service or shared engine against its database fixture. The structured assertion inventory records the checks present at the pinned revision.

## What This Suite Proves

The existing checks exercise maintain partitions. The specification bindings identify the narrower outcomes supported by those assertions.

## What It Does Not Prove

Local execution does not establish deployed queue, storage or service behavior. Independent test cases do not establish a complete cross-feature process.

## Real Dependencies and Test Doubles

Real Postgres executes the partition helpers and catalogue reads. The fixture supplies an archive callback, a fixed clock and telemetry spies.

## Must Not Be Doubled

The database effects, security context and production operation under examination remain real. Their outcomes cannot be replaced with canned success responses.
