Service records end; they are not deleted or undone
Context
Governance history must explain past service and departures. The recorded retention and dissolution decisions already establish the product direction.
Decision
Retain service records through corrections and lifecycle outcomes, keep referenced governance configuration, and prevent ordinary edits from reversing a committee’s dissolution.
Alternatives Considered
Delete mistaken appointments. Deletion removes the service record that dated rosters and history need to explain a mistake.
Restore a dissolved body through an ordinary edit. An edit cannot consistently restore meetings, recruitment and service ended by closure.
Consequences
Versioned corrections preserve earlier accounts without making them current.
Dissolution records cancelled offers as lapsed rather than as a participant’s decline.
Unused committees and seats can be deleted when their dependency checks allow it; vacated service can still be restored by a holdover, requiring review.
