History limits retain existing entries
Context
The change’s audit history must remain intact. Provider progress is a bounded diagnostic record with a different retention purpose.
Decision
Transition history stops at one thousand entries, revision history at one hundred and approvals at two hundred; progress retains the latest five hundred reports.
Alternatives Considered
- Drop the oldest history: Discarding early transitions would erase the account of how the change reached its state.
Consequences
- Work exceeding a history limit needs a new change record.
- Old progress can be trimmed while the transition log retains the lifecycle account.
