Presentation sharing respects source audiences
Context
Presentation sharing must remain compatible with the definitions that supply its data.
Decision
Report and dashboard writes check audience width against locked source definitions, and saved-query narrowing is refused when dependent presentations would retain a wider audience.
Alternatives Considered
Permit wider presentation sharing and refuse data later: People could discover a presentation that its source sharing prevents them from using.
Check audiences only in the browser: Concurrent source changes could invalidate the browser’s earlier check.
Consequences
A narrower source must be shared before its presentation can be widened. Source locks are acquired in identifier order to reduce deadlock risk.
